Valero Corner Store "Hotter Than Salsa" Bike Ride
A Bicycle Tour of the Three Rivers/Choke Canyon Area Bicycle Route Information All bikers will meet between 6:00am and 8:00am at the parking
lot across from the Valero Corner Store on Hwy 281. All rides start at 8:00am. The routes begin and end on W. Church St., on the south side of the parking lot. Entry Fee: $25
20 Mile Route The 20 mile ride starts out going South on Hwy. 281 and then turning right
onto FM 1042, through Simmons City and past the historic Simmon Church and back to Hwy 72. Turning right you skirt along the South Shore of the Choke Canyon Reservoir and back into Three Rivers. 35 Mile Route The 35 mile ride heads south out of Three Rivers on Hwy. 281, and then turns right on FM 889. A second right on FM 1873
will bring riders past the old White Creek Church. It then turns left on FM 1042 at Simmons City, passing the historic Simmons Church. Riders then head onto FM 1545, with one more turn onto
Hwy. 72, turning back to Three Rivers with views of Choke Canyon Reservoir along the way. 50 Mile Route The 50 mile ride also starts out heading west out of
Three Rivers on Hwy. 72 and skirts along the South Shore of Choke Canyon Reservoir. The ride turns right on Hwy. 99 heading north, crossing the lake at the Frio River and also at Opossum
Creek, and on into the small community of Whitsett, north of the Choke Canyon Reservoir. The ride turns right in Whitsett onto Hwy. 281 heading south back to Three Rivers. |
